3. Copy the file from the computer into your phone's c:\Documents\RingTone\ folder. After you copy the file to the phone you can preview it when selcting tones in the "Phone->Settings->Tones"
4. Copy file c:\Documents\RingTone\Default\DefaultVibrateRingTone.ini from your phone to the computer and edit it with notepad. Modify DefaultVibrateRingTone value and put a path to your newly created file there:
DefaultVibrateRingTone="C:\Documents\Ringtone\vib_sound.imy". Save the DefaultVibrateRingTone.ini file on the computer.
5. Then you need to replace c:\Documents\RingTone\Default\DefaultVibrateRingTone.ini file in your phone with the one you just edited on the computer. You may wish to rename your original DefaultVibrateRingTone.ini file to DefaultVibrateRingTone.bak just in case you need it.
6. Put your phone into vibrating mode and ring yourself.
Thanks for you help its been great, but I seem to have hit a snag.
I dont have a ringtones folder in my C directory. The only media folder i have s the one i created as my modified mp3 ringtones. once I put the new .imy file in the same folder, I cant locate it when i go into the control panel/general tab/ringtune manager. It doesnt show up inthe tones seting of the phone.
I also tried locating the c:\Documents\RingTone\Default\DefaultVibrateRingTone.ini in the c:\of my phone and its not there. Is there something that I am missing in a big way?
My A920 only has the following directory. C:\documents\media files\audio\mp3 ringtones.
I might add that I havent had the bluetooth upgrade. Whether or not this has made any difference I am not sure.
If you can help I'd really appreciate it as I am keen on creating the vibe&ring function.

Hi. I do not have these folders that you are talking of. Would they be hidden?
Thanks

Mate. Who are you? You will go down in my books as some kind of hero.
You are an information powerhouse.
I have a question...
Is it possible to make this ring (the one with the vibrate) a lot louder. I am a little hard of hearing, and I really like the vibrate AND ring idea, but this particular ring is very quiet.
Thanks
Lol.....Yeah Aussie tank is pretty good. Aussie...do you know how to make the ring a little louder. I have never coded. I tried the V+ after 5#c5 ie 5#c5V+ but it didnt seem to work. Can you shed some light on this??
Any luck with the mp3 and vibrate function.
Got the BT upgrade....time to unleash this phones real potential
I see that the creation of these sound/vibe tones can be manually created using the codes (#5, V+, etc, etc).
Is there a spec that these are defined in?? I would like to try my hand at creating some of these files. Maybe come up with a funky tone and vibe routine of my own???
Thanks

What I've trying to open the MP3 in the Note pad and then try to work out how to paste the code into the middle of the file for the ring. I'll keep trying.
ok....I 've thought about this solution but dont know whether it'd wortk... Would it be possible for the phone to recognise to play a file in a specific location
what i mean by this is code it in a way where it vibrates first, then goes to the directory to play the mp3 file and then vibrates again....and then continues to loop. I wouldnt have the faintest on how to do this but it might help.

Update I've been trying to work with the MP3 into the ring and viabrate and it doesn't function properly so till a patch is made we can't do anything about Sorry guys but will let you know of any changes.

I didnt actually test it on the phone, I was only playing around with the melody maker, and havent had time to muck around with anything else yet. I will let you know when/if I get a chance to do that.
Hi,
this is my first message, hope it will be useful.
managed to have a new vibrating melody, mission impossible: it's not poliphonic, is just a variation of the system descripted above, but is a little bit more nice.
The problem of low level volume remains...
I'll post it when i'm at home, or PM if you like.
Simply rename it as vib_sound.imy and follow the instructions in the above posts.
Bye.

Nice post... Got a little info that a patch is getting released next month it will fix the ring and viabrate problem and then you can have MP3s as your ringtones and the phone will viabrate.
