Okay, folks...I have one in my hands. I just opened the box and...it's a beautiful little unit. It looks and feels smaller than the i730. Measurements: 2.25" wide, 4-3/16" long (not including the antenna), and just under an inch thick. It fits nicely in my palm.
It's all silver and the keyboard slides out as shown in the pics. Great keyboard.
The branding is "SPRINT" with the old logo on the upper left. "Pocket PC" on the upper right.
1.3mp camera, says so on the back near the lens.
Comes with: a decent carrying case, a desktop stand/synch base/charging base, an AC charging cable, software, a stylus in the antenna AND an extra stylus, stereo earbud earphones/mic, a USB synch cable, manual and some promotional literature.
Further....comes packaged with battery out. User replaceable battery. Battery is a thin piece that goes inside the back of the keyboard. Says "UTStarcom" Model: BTR6700, Phone model: PPC6700/VX6700 1350mAh 3.7 Li Ion battery"

So maybe Verizon is planning on carrying this device at some point. If they are putting the VX branding on it then I would have to think Verizon is considering it...
Not that I really care, I have a contract with Sprint anyway, but still found it interesting...
The device was produced for both Verizon and Sprint. Verizon is just taking it's sweet time with the testing. In all honesty, Sprint pushed this device out at a astronomically fast rate compared to previous track records.
Congratz man, you appear to be the first, provable via pictures please!
how is the sliding action? that Is the one concern I have about this unit because I've heard bad things about the 6600. have you ever used the i730, and if so, how close was it to that?
Originally posted by imageone yes and PLEASE post pics with screen ON, and in both mode. also pls tell me keyboard is back lit.
I rarely used mine but when I did I appreciated the lighted keyboard on the 6600. I'm guessing it isn't on the 6700 since I haven't seen any pictures with it lit but that would be great if it was. I'd be more likely to use this keyboard because of the size of it.
Okay folks...here's the scoop....I've learned a couple of things:
1) This device DOES NOT SUPPORT picturemail or videomail. Big bummer. But I assume only because it's a PPC and one can always attach vids and pics to outbound emails.
2) This device WILL SUPPORT standard PCS Vision. I have accessed it fine. It will seamlessly switch from EVDO ("Power Vision", I'm told) to PCS Vision, depending upon the area you're in.
Here is the device, not using flash, under my kitchen light (thus the slightly off-silver colour). The colour of the previous picture is accurate. Note the main screen.

if the keyboard isn't back lit it will be totally useless in low light. I have a Tungsten C which has a keyboard or thumb board and in a dim room you can for get it. As load with options as the 6700 is I can't see that oversight.
Here is one side. The first button to the left is the voice memo recorder button. The second is a slider for volume and ringer volume, etc. The third is Internet Explorer. The thing to the right with the green film over it is the IR (infra-red).
