PPC-6700 on Verizon question (Device in my hands)

I've got a XV6700BB Verizon Pocket PC phone with WM5.

My friends are on sprint and they can have their wireless connection and their phone enabled at the same time.

I have Verizon here and when I enable wireless, it disables my phone where I can't make or receive calls.

Is there any way around this? A REG hack maybe?

HOLY?!!?!? Where did you get this? Several of us are waiting on it. Does it have a camera like the sprint version? Many people will have many questions!

Its possible the same hack for the i730 will enable wifi and phone...

Update: Apparently the wlan.dll is replaced on the Samsung i730 to enable this, so some hacking will be needed yet....

I can't say until it's officially released or I could get fined. But yes, it does have a 1.3 megapixel camera with macro-mode and zoom.

Thanks for the info on the i730. Do you think the same file will work for the 6700? If not, I'll find the wlan.dll file on the 6700 and start working on it.

POST PICTURES!!!!!!

Let us know if the i730 hack works. (Is anybody surprised VZW screwed with it?)

Does the unit have a camera?

Feel free to post anything you would like, have time for regarding this VZW implementation.

I can't say that it will or wont work, because the i730 and 6700 haven't different OS, architecture, and most likely different wlan chipsets.... so it may be something we will have to figure out later after release.

Great! on the camera.

Care to post an "official" release estimate?

Dumb question. How can I copy directly to the Windows directory on the phone? OR How can I view .dll files on my phone?

I don't even know the "official" release date of this phone. I heard around December.

Exclamation Where did you get it?

holy crapper you got one?! ARe you a best buy employee? I heard a few of their geek squad had it.

Dec? that sucks as Sprint has had it for couple months now. why is vzw so late.

I guess they needed time to disable caling with wifi on as you mentioned that sprints version doesnt' have disabled.

I wonder what else will be disabled crippled?

Any chance of converting a sprint ppc6700 to work on vzw? I heard most likely not as though you used to be able to do it with the treo 650's , vzw changed their computer system and you no longer can so prob a no go on the ppc6700.

Please post pics and give comparison to any esthetic and/or internal differences to the ppc6700.
So far we know they disabled the phone working when in wireless mode which is different then sprints.

does it come with the same case/clip as the ppc6700. What is the coloring? silver like sprints?

The black is great. Actually, I prefer it. I can't tell any noticeable differences between this phone and the sprint phone. *Supposedly* some Geek Squad agents got this phone early from BOTH providers. My picture is kinda bad since I have no good place to take decent pictures of it.

yeah the screen looks really bad and green but hopefully that is just the picture.

If they hadn't added red writing I might not have minded the black.

I'm holding my silver ppc6700 and can't decide which i like better. As much as i like getting a little black along with teh silver keyboard the all silver seems to just match and flow better, look lighter as someone said plus look more high tech and less toyish then the black.

Either way its nice how they are slight diff and vzw didn't just come out with it in the same silver 2-3 mo. late.

So will the xv6700 beat the Cingular 8125 Wizard to stores?

Will Best buy get the xv6700 before vzw stores?

so you say they look the same on outside other hten the the color.

do more internal comparisons.

i want to see what else is crippled on vzw's version like the phone not working during wireless mode as you mentioned at the beginning.

i guess I'll just use white out on the 2 red parts. the check mark and the Z and then I'll be happy. I like the white lettering on the black just get rid of the red.

Wow, when I got my 6700 for sprint I was thinking, man if they only made this in black that it would be hot.....But after seeing those pics I am glad to have the silver. The finish on it looks horrible and, why did they only do the top half black? It should have all been black. It looks like someone just put a vinyl skin on the top half and forgot about the rest.
Is the backside of the phone black or silver?

OK, so now I've gone from antsy to jealous in 1 second flat. I want one, I want one. For the record, I like the black.

Anything crippled that you've noticed that you might want to mention? Maybe you haven't noticed yet, but definitely let us know when you do?

Granted you haven't had it too long, but how's battery life looking?

Ah, so many questions, but the main one is obviously when it will be available to VZW biz customers? I know, I know...I'll be patient.

battery life and all that should be exactly the same as sprints ppc6700.

the only thing diff is the color and then depending on what vzw crippled/disabled.

if you want basica answers like battery life and all then see some ppc6700 threads as the phone has been out for 2 months so nothing is really a mystery.

There will be no separate forum for Vzw and for Sprint. As with the 6600, since it's the same device, all information is relatively the same, and goes for both Vzw and for Sprint.
