HOW TO: Sync your 6700 with Itunes on OS X

Since my ipod video was recently stolen. I needed a way to listen to my podcasts on the go. And with the a2dp hack I realized replacing my ipod was pointless when I could just use my phone. But there was one problem being that I have a macbook the PPC-6700 doesn't sync with OS X. Until now...... heres what I did to sync itunes with my 6700.

Getting the PPC-6700 to act as a usb mass storage device

1. Download and install wm5torage

2. The once its installed go to programs/accessories and run the program. Use the right soft-key to enable it.

3. Plug it into your notebook or desktop running OS X and it will mount to the desktop

Now that we have phone acting as a mass storage device its time to get it to sync with itunes.

Installing the script to sync the PPC-6700 with itunes on OS X

1. Go to Dougs Applescripts for Itunes and download Sync Playlist Files to Folder

2. Install the script into username/Library/Itunes/Scripts

3. Edit the script to include the playlist that you want to sync. I created a new Playlist within itunes called PPC-6700

4. Then edit the script to the location that you want the files to be placed on your PPC-6700. I picked a folder called music/new music

5. Save your script. Then restart Itunes now you should see the script menu included. Run the script and now you can sync an itunes playlist to your PPC.

Now to play the music

1. Load up windows media player go to library and select update. Now your off to enjoy all your new music.

Enjoy the tutorial feel free to add suggestions.

Hold up. Is this program basically a free version of Softick's Card Export software? How well does it work? I don't use iTunes, but this software is ever so enticing if it makes the 6700 function as a USB mass storage device.

Yup it works and well. I been using it for the past couple of days. Thats when I came up with the idea to sync itunes to a folder. In order to get your 6700 to active sync you must disable the program. Enabling it allows the sd card to function as a usb mass storage device but wil not allow the phone to active sync.

I got the CAB- posted here for anybody who wants it. Seems to be good software- just used it and it allowed me to view the contents of my storage card through My Computer on XP. For the price, this kicks the crap out of the Softick Card Export II software. Great find!!!

Well done jaydon34! Also for those PC users who feel left out, you can do this too by using PlayList Sync.

Yeah anytime I figured this would be good for Mac users because as of now we have no way to sync or install stuff to our windows mobile phones.
