Question How can you be sure the Phone portion has been updated?

I did not appear to have any problems with the upgrade, however after reading some other posts concerning the phone part I then began to re-evaluate. 2003 works fine, no problems. There was some "device not found" during the sync process, but everything seems to transfter over.

I did have my phone on during the process and followed (I thought) the directions quite precisely.

My phone version shows this:
S:I700.06 V:WE04

Does this indicate that it is updated? Is there only one possible "code" that shows it has been upgraded?

I did not see a definite answer in other posts.

Thanks.

I believe the official phone upgrade was i700.06.V.XE11, and it seems that everyone here has this version. You could reflash making sure that you have a clear signal (2 or 3 bars). Or you could take the phone to vzw and have them flash it again. Either way, GO BUCKS!

That is the version I have after a successful PDA and phone update. The first time I tried, it only flashed the PDA and I had a driver problem, but Win XP installed the drivers for me and the second time everything updated and I got the "Success" screen.

You have to have signal on your phone to complete the upgrade? Maybe thats my problem. I don't get a good cell signal in my house.

The phone has to be on, I am not sure if you need a good signal or not.

i just figured that it was doing some type of special PRL update, otherwise the phone wouldn't need to be on to update it. This would also explain why some people didn't get this portion updated despite having there phones on wouldn't it.

Thanks for the responses. When I open the phone program there are a number of differences:
1. The visual display itself has changed---colors are different
2. Display of time on call is in Left upper corner (not this way before)
3. There is an icon at the bottom which allows to mute a call (icon is to the right of the contacts icon)

Would these things have changed if the phone had not been updated?

What kinds of things should be different with phone upgrade?

Am I just plain nuts?

I did the update at the store and mine was not the same as listed above. Not sure if I should go and Reflash again on my own or if the stores can fix or will fix the phone portion?

WDTS told me that they were having just as much of a problem w/the update going through the store as they are with people online. they said they were really shocked at the percentages of successful upgrades that we have had on here, and have been using this site for examples. way to go ppl!

I always hate to say that I agree with a Buckeye...

But I also have the odd phone software version, but my phone has definitely been upgraded.

If anyone has seen any differences, please post for us.

I have been having some issues lately with the phone turning off and not turning on again. I have to remove the battery to get it to turn on again.

I called Samsung today and wanted to share something with y'all:

When I upgraded to 2003 yesterday, I got a "Failure" error at the end. However, WM2003 and the phone works great.

The literature says that after installation, you should go under setting, phone, etc..and read the version on your i700 to be sure it worked. The PDA number was exact.

The phone S/W is supposed to be S:i700.06 V:XE11
My phone says: S:i700.06 V:WG02.

I was worried that I need to redo the installation. I called Samsung, and they were very helpful. Said no, it is fine, since only the WM2003 gets updated anyway, not the phone software. And indeed, my phone seems to be working fine.

Did anybody else have this situation after upgrading?
Not sure?
Tap start, settings, phone icon, etc. tab, version tab, and see if your S/W number under phone matches mine or what Samsung recommends.

Thanks,
Ed

I had the same thing happen to me...the store atempted to flash twice...each time the PDA portion worked fine but the phone update failed. I too am running S;I700.06.WG02.

After the second time they threw up their hands and said they did not know what to do but that I should be comforted as I could still make calls.

phone update

Well, my phone has been working fine too. It did seem to update..."Call log" changed to "call history" on the display. Yours too?

When you flashed it twice at the store, how did you do that?
I bought mine off ebay, so i have no owners manual.
Is that flash a soft or hard reset?

And how would I hard reset if I wanted to?

Thanks,
Ed

The store re-flashed the phone after they got the error the first time.

You can download a copy of the owners' manual from the Sansumg site. It has the instruction son how to hard reset.
