Sorry to be so dramatic, but, if your using voice command it's very important to read the following.
I have been using voice command since I have had 2003 and my phone was always very slow to come back on after a power off/on. After looking in the system notification database I found several hundred power wakup notifications for voice command. I created an app posted at http://www.sdsoft.net/i700.aspx that will remove all entries created by voice command. It is reccomended that you run it at startup. My phone powers off/on almost instantly now.
Note: The app will give no feedback that it has done anything. It will just run delete the entries and exit.
does it need to run everytime? what do the wakeup notifications do?

Power wakeup notifications signal the app to take action whenever the device is powered on. For example autostep uses a power notification so that it can reset the speed to your setting everytime you power on. That is why you see that quick screen flicker when you power on. Voice Command is adding a new entry every soft-reset, so the best thing to do is to run it from startup. That way it will run before voice command, delete all the entries and then voice command will run and create the one that it needs.
wow. much faster. thanks alot, dave! you are just super

I have a new I700 with WM2003 from VZW and just installed VoiceCommand. My I700 doesn't seem to have the slow off/on symptom. So, should I still run this utility? Also, to run it, do I simply download it on my Laptop, then use ActiveSynch to get it to the I700 and then just launch it using Pocket Explorer? Thanks.

over time, each time you do a soft reset of the device, voice command will add another command to the notification table. overtime, the redundancy of this will cause slow startup times. just run w/o the utility by sd for a while and watch your boot up time get slower, and slower, and slower... UGH.... you wont really notice a big difference @ this point, though, and the sooner you put SD's utility onto the phone after installing voice command, you will find that it doesnt seem to be doing anything. if you wanna compare/contrast, DONT install the utility, do a few soft resets, and watch the startup time get slower... you will see the benifit of this program pronto!

Just looking over this...what I meant to say was the CheckNotification app fixes this, too, and other extras in the notify database. Didn't mean it to sound like the CheckNotification app creates the problem, too.
But it's always nice to support our own, even if it is a free app
This wouldnt be causing the issue where Voice Command itself fails to respond (activating by button or clicking on the app) when the phone has been turned off and then on?
Mine use to work really well, but now almost everytime I turn it on and try to use the program, it won't activate... I end up having to soft-reset it all the time and then it will only work for an hour or so.
I've seen some people comment about this on the 'Disappointed With Voice Command' thread.
I did notice it works a lot better now... but ... the application doesn't load until you press the button for the first time. Then it will load and activate. It's cool in my book!
Question tho... what version of Voice Command is everyone running. I know they have an update you must download if you hadn't purchased it recently.
Did you istall the free app refreenced in an earlier thread? I use the ClearNotification, which clears out the notify database of extra entries, but I must run it. There was another free app that went in your startup folder. Sounds like that is what you have.
