Is anyone else having intermittent trouble signing in on AOL with the Samsung i330?
I have two AOL screennames and sometimes I can sign in on both, sometimes on one and not the other, and sometimes on neither.
Also, the AOL webclippings area with news, weather, etc. stopped working a few months ago (even though I have a webclipping display program on my i330).
I have AOL version 3.0 for Palm (which works with the i330's Palm version 3.5). I understand that AOL recently came out with version 3.1 for Palm 5.0. Does this one also work with the Palm v. 3.5?
Does it work more consistently than AOL 3.0? I know that you have to buy it (again) for $20--is it worth it???
I also have intermittent problems with AOL right now 2 screen names can't sign in and the other 4 can. Unfortunately the 2 are my main screen names. AOL support is horrible. The first guy I spoke to said the no longer support the program by phone I'd have to figure out my problem online. The second guy was nice and wrote a report. He said it could be a week before it gets fixed. Both my mother (on her i330) and I have had this problem before and they offer no explanation as to what is causing this and have given us the dumbest solutions to try to fix it. I can still check my mail using gopherking but I like the aol app interface better.
AOL version 3.1 is for palm v. 3.52 - 4.x. I currently use 3.0 and can't tell you if the other version is more reliable or not. I don't want to spend the extra $20 to find out.
Strangely, I have found that, although AOL won't sign in totally for one of my screennames (also my main one), the auto-AOL option DOES work. So, I auto-AOL the screenname, the emails are extracted, and then I can read them.
As instructed by AOL Customer Service, I emailed PDASoftwareHelp@aol.com with my problem regarding the AOL signing on issue on my i330.
All I got back were stock answers showing that no one actually read any of my emails. Just to be sure, I sent in my original query again, and again, I got the same stock answers. "Check your password," "Do a soft reset," "Sorry we cannot guarantee this product," "We do not give refunds on software even if it doesn't work."
It seems to me that either PDASoftwareHelp isn't really an existing division of AOL or it's filled iwth a bunch of idiots who don't know how to read an email and try to answer it.
I just called the AOL PDA customer support number--they tell me that they no longer support AOL for PALM via phone.
I must use the PDASofwareHelp@aol email--and my experience has already shown that that address is manned by some sort of robot that can't actually read your email and answer your questions.
Great going AOL! No wonder people are leaving you in droves!!
I'm using AOL for Palm version 3.2 for OS 5.2.1. I can't log on using my master screen name and I've been waiting for PDA software help to email me back. It's been a while.
Oh no--sounds like the same problem so many people have complained about is coming up again. Don't hold your breath to get any constructive answer from AOL.
Try a soft reset. If that doesn't work, sometimes AOL has some problem with its system that doesn't allow certain screennames to work--and all of a sudden, it starts working again.
Sadly, AOL has done very little to support this product, and it doesn't really look like they care that much about it. They'll sell it to you for $20 but then pretend you don't exist when you write to them about a complaint! I'm absolutely convinced there's a monkey on the other end of AOL'S software help email address.

If you have an i330 you need AOL version 3.1 for Palm. You have Palm OS 3.5.3 anything for Palm OS 5 usually won't work.
