On thing that would affect my decision to buy a Treo 600 is whether it has the built-in function as a voice recorder, and the timing of recording is only limit by the memory of external memory card like the Seimens SL45 which I am using.
Would any user kindly enlighten me, and also, if it has such function, what is the format of the file.

Thank you for your assistance.
Unfortunately, the answer is: no. Currently there is no voice recording ability. There has been some rumor that this will be added in the next ROM update, but I wouldn't hold my breath. The next version of the Treo will probably have it, but who knows when that will be coming out (I am guessing Q4 since that is when the Treo 600 will be a year old).
Thank you Jeff. I've been asking the same question on other forum. 65 read it and no one posts a reply. At one time it makes me think that my question is stupid that nobody gives a damn. Its nice that I could obtain a reply within a day after posting in this forum.
I know that the Symbian phones, e.g. SX1 could extend the power of the voice recording function from the built in 2 minutes to unlimited time through 3rd party software. Could this could not be done in Treo 600? Otherwise I have no alternative but to keep my old PDA and to buy a SX1.
By the way, it is very disappointing that Treo 600 is just available in Hong Kong despite the fact that it is already one year old. Maybe they need time to convert the platform from English to Chinese. I couldn't imagine how long would it take to have the new version.

I think I remember reading (probably on this forum) that there was some problem with the current ROM as to why voice recording wasn't supported. Until that is fixed, third party companies of applications that do voice recording said that they can't get their apps to work with the Treo. Once the ROM is fixed, then it should work, but who know when that will be. We had heard about this problem when the Treo came out and now it is 7 months latter and still nothing. Even the beta of the new ROM that is floating around does not seem to fix the problem, so it is my guess that it will never be fixed for this version of the Treo. It probably will be in the next version.
As to why it took so long to get the Treo in Hong Kong, I have no idea, but Verizon (which is the largest wireless phone carrier in the US) still doesn't have the Treo (rumor has it that they will be launching it latter this month), so you guys still got it before a lot of US folks.
Actually I believe the unofficial 3.04 Firmware does turn on the ability for applications to take advantage of the microphone. I believe I've read about Audacity working with this firmware.
